The Autumn Zephyr Lily is a beautiful and slightly lesser-known variety of the rain lily family, often blooming in late summer to fall—especially after rain showers. Like other Zephyranthes species, it produces delicate, lily-like flowers that make it a favorite in tropical and subtropical gardens.
Care Tips for Autumn Zephyr Lily:
*1. Light:
Grows best in full sun to partial shade.More sun = more blooms.
*2. Watering:
Water regularly during the growing season, especially after dry spells.Let the soil dry slightly between waterings, but don’t let it go bone dry for too long.It naturally goes dormant in dry or cold seasons.
*3. Soil:
Needs well-draining soil—loamy or sandy is best.Enrich with organic compost for healthier bulbs.
*4. Fertilizer:
Light feeding during active growth (spring to early fall) with a balanced liquid or bulb fertilizer.Too much nitrogen = more leaves, fewer flowers.
*5. Temperature & Climate:
Prefers warm, humid weather.Hardy in USDA Zones 8–11. In colder areas, bulbs can be lifted and stored.
*6. Dormancy:
Foliage may die back in winter or after flowering—this is normal.Reduce watering during dormancy; resume when new growth appears.
*7. Propagation:
Easily propagated by bulb division.Separate offsets (baby bulbs) from the parent bulb and replant them during dormancy.
